Aloe Vera

What is Aloe Vera?

Aloe Vera, sometimes referred to as Aloe or lily of the desert, is one of the widest used medicinal plants on the planet, dating back to early Egyptian times, as early as 4,000 BC, where it was known as the plant of immortality.

The Aloe Vera plant produces two substances from inside its skin, gel and latex, which are both used to produce a number of medicines owing to their nutritional benefits. The gel is found in the inside of the plants leaf, and resembles a translucent, gel like substance. Just under the plants skin is a yellow material known as latex. A number of products contain both gel and latex, as they are made from crushing the entire leaf.

Aloe Vera contains an abundance of vital vitamins including A, C, E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6 and B12, in addition to calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper and manganese.
